Sox-Astros Preview

As part of me getting back into the blogging scene, I will begin previewing Red Sox games either game by game or just do series previews and series reviews as they conclude. Tonight brings upon us game 2 of the four game series between the Sox and Astros. Here's the basics on tonights game:Pitching Matchup:Erik Bedard (0-1, 6.67)Last Outing: 4 IP, 2 ER vs ClevelandLifetime vs current Red Sox Lineup : .152 BA, 4 HR's, .298 OBP in 99 ABsvs.Ryan Dempster (0-2, 3.38)Last Outing: 7 IP, 4 ER vs Kansas CityLifetime vs current Astros Lineup: .246, 0 HRs, .283 OBP in 57 ABsPreview:     The Sox hope to keep their good start to the season rolling tonight as they faceoff against Erik Bedard and the Houston Astros in game two of the four game weekend series at Fenway. Game one brought what most Sox fans thought would take place, a fast start with the bat and more outstanding pitching from Sox starter Clay Buchholz.     It looks like Ryan Dempster will be the Red Sox guinea pig for the 2013 season on why wins are an overrated stat for a pitcher. Dempster has pitched very well so far for the Sox in his first year as he currently leads the league in strikeouts with 33. However he has not been the benefit of a lot of run support, thus the zero runs on his record. He faces an Astros team currently in the midst of their worst start for the franchise since 1976 sitting in last place in the AL West at 7-15    Opposing Dempster is a pitcher who may give the Astros a fightin chance in this one as Erik Bedard gets the ball for Houston. Bedard is coming off a short start, lasting only 4 IP in his last start and hasn't gotten out of the 4th inning in any of his previous starts this season. Whatever uniform Bedard puts on, he always seems to have success against the Red Sox.    The Sox hope to go for three wins in a row and four out five tonight and based on the struggles the Astros are having in the teams first season in the American League. It appears that Ryan Dempster has picked the perfect matchup to gain his first win for the BoSox.Prediction:Red Sox 9Astros 3
